Garrett Challenger Breaks Fundraising Record
Josh Gottheimer raised more money than any House candidate in New Jersey

Republican Rep. Scott Garrett‘s Democratic challenger broke a fundraising record for House candidates from New Jersey.
Josh Gottheimer, a former Microsoft executive and White House speechwriter, raised $1.1 million in the most recent fundraising quarter, which ended Sept. 30, bringing his total amount of money raised to $4 million.
Gottheimer also reported $2.6 million in cash on hand at the end of the quarter.

Garrett, who represents the Garden State’s 5th District, raised $540,000 in the most recent quarter and has $2.1 million in the bank. This is the first time since his first race in 2002 that he has been outraised by an opponent.
Garrett became a major target for Democrats this cycle after he said he refused to pay dues to the National Republican Congressional Committee because it recruited and supported openly gay candidates.
The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race as Tilts Republican.
