Teachout Sends Out Victory and Concession Speech
Comes as Democratic House candidate falls behind Republican John Faso

New York House candidate and law professor Zephyr Teachout is giving out her syllabus to supporters in the 19th District for whether she wins or loses.
In an attachment to a press release titled “Election Night Speech” that was tweeted by National Journal reporter Kimberly Railey, the Democratic candidate appears to highlight talking points from a possible victory or concession speech. Some points talk about the fact she beat back moneyed interests with “grassroots power.”
“This is a personal fight for a handful of billionaire [sic],” the document says, while another point references Franklin Roosevelt’s line about wealthy opponents saying, “I welcome their hatred.”

But other lines seem to be preparing for a loss such as “We gave them a real run for their money” while others imply the race will be “too close to call” and asking about how many absentee ballots there are.
The potential speech comes as a new poll from Siena College and Time Warner Cable News shows Teachout trailing her Republican opponent John Faso by six points.
The two are running to replace outgoing Republican Rep. Chris Gibson. The district was won by President Barack Obama in 2012 by 6 points but Gibson won the district in 2014 with 65 percent of the vote.
The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race Tossup.
