Clinton Gives Wholehearted Concession
Congratulates Trump, while expressing regret

Hillary Clinton conceded the election to President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday in New York.
While the Democratic nominee had expected to give a victory speech on Tuesday at the Javits Center in New York — standing under a literal glass ceiling — to celebrate becoming the first female president, she instead found herself flanked by her family and running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, calling on her supporters to accept the result.
Clinton struck a conciliatory tone toward the incoming president who had previously called her “Crooked Hillary” and declared her to be a “nasty woman” during the final debate.
“I hope he will be a successful president for all Americans,” she said. “This is not the outcome we wanted or worked so hard for. But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together.”

Clinton stressed the peaceful transfer of power but also said the Constitution enshrines the rule of law and freedom of worship, a jab at Trump’s proposed temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.
She was introduced by her running mate Tim Kaine, who praised Clinton and thanked her for asking him and his wife to run with her and former President Bill Clinton.
“My wife Ann and I are so proud of Hillary Clinton,” he said.
