Military Base Builds Solar Farm on Superfund Site

The Courrier-Post (NJ) reports that “The largest solar farm at a military base in the northeastern United States is to be constructed over a federal Superfund site in the middle of the Pine Barrens.”

“The 16.5-megawatt solar energy project is in a remote section of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.”

“More than 51,000 solar panels are to be installed there and eventually produce more than 21,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy each year, enough to power more than 2,500 homes across Jersey Central Power & Light’s electric grid, according to the Joint Base Public Affairs Office.”
