Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. spent his Fourth of July holiday at home after suffering from heat exhaustion and being discharged from the hospital.

The New Jersey Democrat reminded his followers on social media to “drink plenty of water in this oppressive heat wave.”

Temperatures around the country soared yesterday as millions of Americans stayed outside to celebrate the holiday.

Pascrell was wearing a suit at an event at a firehouse in New Jersey when the heat forced him to sit down and seek an air-conditioned room.

He later was admitted to a local hospital, where nurses monitored his condition until he was released.

“I have been discharged and am enjoying my 4th of July at home with family,” Pascrell wrote on Twitter. “I hope my experience can serve as a reminder for everyone to drink plenty of water in this oppressive heat wave!”
