Lawmakers seem to be finally feeling their checks-and-balances oats. Members of both the House and Senate, from both parties, have begun passing legislation that could curb the foreign policy impulses of this impulsive president.

In a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump said he would not use military force to acquire Greenland. After a subsequent meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump also canceled his threat of punitive tariffs against several European countries. Instead, Trump said he saw a new “framework” on a deal as likely workable.
