California congressman made his way around town
From a Capitol Hill speakeasy to a swanky H Street dinner to 30 tequila shots in Dupont, Rep. Duncan Hunter made his way around town — allegedly on his campaign’s dime — over the last seven years.
At least 15 D.C. establishments are identified in the California Republican’s indictment for misuse of campaign funds, which was filed Tuesday.
A couple of takeaways: Hunter likes pizza, as well as a particular Capitol Hill hotel, and an acquaintance had one pretty rowdy bachelor party.
Here are excerpts from the indictment:
- On or about June 21, 2011, in Washington, D.C., DUNCAN HUNTER spent $162.02 in Campaign funds for a personal stay at the Liaison Capitol Hill hotel.
- On or about July 13, 2011, in Washington, D.C., MARGARET HUNTER spent $65 .19 in Campaign funds at the International Spy Museum for gifts for the HUNTER family.”
- On or about May 6 to 12, 2012, in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere, the HUNTERS spent approximately $10,000 in Campaign funds to pay for a family vacation (which included a nephew), during which time MARGARET HUNTER attended a “First Ladies Lunch” at the Washington Hilton …
