Sen. Amy Klobuchar will announce her plans for the 2020 presidential race at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis on Sunday. 

Asked Tuesday on MSNBC after President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address if she will join the crowded field of Democrats competing for the nomination, the Minnesota senator responded, “Sunday come to Boom Island — as in Boom Island drop the mic — and then you’ll find out.” 

Boom Island is a Minneapolis park on the Mississippi River.

Klobuchar, who won a third Senate term last year by 24 points, pointing out in a news release that she won all eight Minnesota congressional districts and the 42 counties that voted for Trump in 2016. Minnesota Democrats also won a majority in the Minnesota House, which they had lost in 2014. 

The television appearance followed a POLITICO report that said Klobuchar will headline a banquet fundraiser in Ankeny, Iowa, next week. And in January, mockups of a campaign logo were discovered in a Washington coffee shop, though Klobuchar at the time dismissed the logo as the work of a “very enthusiastic supporter.”

The forecast for Minneapolis on Sunday is below 20 degrees. Hot cocoa and warming tents will be provided at the event, according to the news release.

Should Klobuchar enter the fray, she will join a field of candidates likely to include many of her colleagues in the Senate, including Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Sherrod Brown of Ohio. California Sen. Kamala Harris and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker have already declared their 2020 bids, while Warren and Gillibrand have formed exploratory committees.
