FEC Follows DOJ With Another Fine for Buchanan Contributions
The Federal Election Commission announced that it reached conciliation agreements totaling $16,000 in civil penalties with regard to illegal contributions to the campaigns of Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.). MUR #6516.
The Commission found that Florida home builder and Buchanan business partner Timothy F. Mobley, MTampa Financing Company LLC,Express Freight of Florida LLC, made (with the assistance of Mobley’s brother-in-law Timothy M. Hohl) $8,800 in contributions from MTampa Financing LLC to Vern Buchanan for Congress, in the name of Terry Keith Howell, who is a business partner of Buchanan and Hohl in a trucking company.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has prosecuted Mobley and Hohl earlier for a larger scheme. Mobley was fined $200,000 and given 3 years probation for his role in moving $94,300 in illegal contributions to Buchanan and the Republican Party of Florida.
