Gingrich Blames Media For ‘Hysteria’ Over Muslim Comments
He says he'll go on social media today to explain what he meant
Newt Gingrich went on full attack mode Thursday night in a possible last ditch effort to wrestle Donald Trump’s running mate slot from Mike Pence. Now he’s going on Facebook to deal with the “hysteria” his statements about Muslims caused.
On Thursday’s “Hannity,” Gingrich said that Muslims should be tested for supporting Sharia law, and if they do, we should kick them out of the country.

“Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door,” Gingrich said.
The former Speaker of the House did not stop at Muslims supporting Sharia.
“Anybody who goes on a website favoring ISIS, or al Qaeda, or other terrorist groups, that should be a felony and they should go to jail,” Gingrich said.

It had been speculated that Gingrich was a finalist to be Trump’s running mate before news broke that Trump will name Pence as his running mate.
Trump on Friday officially announced Pence was his choice . A news conference was planned for Friday morning, but Trump delayed the event because of the terrorist attack in Nice, France, on Thursday night.

gave Gingrich a lift on his private jet
to Indianapolis to meet with Trump earlier this week. The Fox News host tweeted that he was just doing a favor for a friend.
