Starting gate Durbin to step down: Senate Minority Whip Richard J.
Hillary Scholten won’t run for Senate, she told The Detroit News, and will instead seek a third term in the House. Scholten flipped her Grand Rapids-area seat in 2022.
It’s the first time Democrats have taken such a step this year, but it’s a move they made in 2017 in an attempt to delay the confirmation of certain Trump nominees.
