<p class="p1"><!--<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-163976 default" src="https://cdn.media.rollcall.com/author/2018/12/RC-2019CongressionalCalendar.jpg" alt="Roll Call 2019 Congressional Calendar" width="2400" height="3200"/>--></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The 116th Congress will officially gavel in on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>The following day, the House will be in and the Senate out — the only day this will occur in 2019. </span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Throughout the year, the Republican-controlled Senate is scheduled to be in session more days than their colleagues in the Democrat-led House.
